i am angry
about war
where bodies
glow with blood
under a sky of black smoke
mushroom clouds of orange
where children if not dead
have a missing leg
but still hobble
along debris scattered
brick streets
looking for food
looking for family
looking for friends
babies covered in soot
wail for a nipple
that has been shattered
in the next room
by gunfire
through a window
with a faded white
curtain that flutters
in the burnt scented
neighborhoods
where children
know not peace
never have peace
will never know peace
and i sit here
and write
and cry
for their helplessness
i am angry
